We have developed the Athletentreff app for the German Sport University Cologne: a mobile platform that brings athletes together, makes events visible and simplifies participation. With intelligent matching, filter functions and socializing features, the app is the digital meeting place for sports enthusiasts in the city.

German Sport University Cologne – Europe’s largest sports university
The German Sport University Cologne is an internationally renowned institution for sports science and training. Its innovative projects bring together science, practice and digitalization. The aim of the Athletentreff project was to connect athletes via an app and create new opportunities for joint activities in urban spaces.
Challenge / Problem
Making events and locations visible
Sports enthusiasts were looking for an easy way to find current events and hotspots in their area.
Low entry barriers
Participation in events and contacts had to be possible quickly, intuitively and without long registration processes.
Meet like-minded people
The app was designed to bring together athletes who share similar interests and preferences.
Digital expansion of the sports community
The sports university wanted to bring the exchange of athletes beyond the campus into the urban space – with a tool that covers both events and socializing.
Solution / Procedure
Consulting & Concept
In close coordination with the sports university, we developed a concept that combines community building, event management and user-friendliness.
UX & UI Design
An intuitive user interface allows users to find events and locations with just a few clicks, register and network with other athletes.
App development
We developed an iOS app with a Symfony backend that integrates user management, event management and social features.
Intelligent matching & filters
Algorithms recommend suitable events and athletes, while filter options enable a targeted search for sports, categories or locations.
Direct interaction
Users can make appointments, organize events, purchase tickets or participate directly in the event via the app.
